Police launch public appeal after armed robbery in Ponds

Police have released CCTV images as part of an appeal for public assistance following an armed robbery at a business in Sydney’s north-west earlier this week.

About 7.30pm (Thursday 17 March 2022), a man entered a pharmacy on Riverbank Drive, The Ponds, armed with a large knife and threatened two employees, demanding cash.

When attempts to open a cash register failed, the man fled the scene on foot.

At the time there were more than 20 customers inside the store.

Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and, with assistance from Mt Druitt Police Area Command and the Dog Unit, commenced a search of the area.

The two employees – a 17-year-old boy and 24-year-old man – were not injured.

As part of the investigation, police have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being about 180cm tall and was wearing a black jumper, black pants, black shoes, with blue disposable gloves, black sunglasses and a black piece of material covering his face.

Anyone who recognises the man, or has information about the incident, is urged to contact Riverstone Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
