Police lay armed robbery charges at Alexandra Hills

Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Alexandra Hills today.

It will be alleged around 10am this morning, a man entered a service station on Cambridge Drive and threatened the female employee with a knife.

She complied and was physically unharmed.

The man allegedly stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes, before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Detectives from Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch later arrested a man in a licenced premises in Eight Mile Plains without incident.

Police will further allege they located a quantity of methamphetamine , a homemade firearm and the stolen goods from the armed robbery at Alexandra Hills in the man’s car.

Police will further allege the man was also involved in other armed robberies of businesses in the Logan and South Brisbane districts over the last month.

A 29-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with eight counts of armed robbery, one count each of attempted armed robbery, possess dangerous drugs, fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe, unlawful possession of weapons and possessing anything for use in the commission of crime.

His police bail was refused and he is due to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 27.
