Police lay armed robbery charges at Capalaba

Detectives have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted and stole from two teenagers at Capalaba overnight.

It will be alleged around 10pm three teenagers were walking on Mount Cotton Road when they where approached by a man who was not known to them.

The man threatened them with a wooden axe handle demanding money. He pushed an 18-year-old man to the ground and began kicking him.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old girl, ran and was able to ring police.

The man then assaulted the other teenager, a 16-year-old boy, and again assaulted the 18-year-old man. He demanded they attend a nearby ATM to obtain money.

Police have attended and arrested the man.

The two male victims both received bruising to their torso and head and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

A 24-year-old Thorneside man has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm. He has also been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The unlawful use of a motor vehicle charge is an unrelated mater that occurred on August 28 at Capalaba.

The man with appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
