Police Lay Armed Robbery Charges At Emerald

A man and a woman have been charged following an investigation into an armed robbery in Emerald on 7 July.

Around 9.15pm, a man and a woman allegedly entered a property on Goanna Flats Road, Rubyvale, armed with a firearm, before they forced the 38-year-old male occupant into a white Subaru Outback.

Police will allege an Emerald woman was also picked up and driven with the Rubyvale man to Willis Road, Emerald, where they were both assaulted and robbed.

The vehicle was located at a location on the Gregory Highway in Emerald on 9 July.

The Rubyvale man suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The Emerald woman did not sustain any physical injuries.

A 29-year-old Blackwater man and a 46-year-old Capella woman have been charged with a total of 27 offences, including two counts each of robbery with violence in company, assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty, threatening violence and possession of tainted property, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon.

Both have been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Emerald Magistrates Court on 1 September.

Investigations are ongoing.
