Police Lay Armed Robbery Charges At Ipswich 6 October

Police have charged two men following an alleged armed robbery at Mount Coolum yesterday, 5 October.

It will be alleged around 6.20pm, a 55-year-old man was approached by a man armed with a knife at a shopping centre on David Low Way before the man allegedly demanded the victim’s vehicle keys and drove away in the victim’s red Honda HR-V.

Police tracked the vehicle, with assistance from POLAIR, south from the Sunshine Coast into Brisbane and towards Ipswich.

Around 8.32pm, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device in Ebbw Vale, before the vehicle continued into Bundamba.

The vehicle was later abandoned on Naomi Street, where the driver, a 26-year-old man, allegedly fled on foot. Police arrested the man a short distance away. A 29-year-old Yarrabilba man, who was allegedly in the vehicle, was also arrested on Naomi Street.

The 26-year-old Mount Coolum man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, 6 October.

The 29-year-old Yarrabilba man was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was released on bail and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on 20 October.
