A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery of a convenience store at South Maclean yesterday, Saturday February 18.
Detectives will allege the man entered the Cusack Lane business just after 1.15pm and produced a knife, making demands for cash and car keys from the male attendant who complied.
The staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
Police will allege the man fled the store on foot, before attempting to steal the staff member’s vehicle. When he was unable to start the motor, investigators allege he ran into bushland.
Officers, including Police Dog Phantom and his handler conducted a search of the area and the man was taken into custody nearby without incident.
He has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, armed robbery and attempted unlawful use of a motorvehicle.
He was denied police bail and will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday February 20.
