Police lay charges after Diamond Creek affray in 2016

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives have today charged seven people in relation to an affray in Diamond Creek in 2016.

The affray took place at a Diamond Creek licensed venue which claimed the life of 19-year-old Patrick Cronin.

Investigators believe the affray which involved up to 30 patrons occurred at the venue about 11pm on 16 April.

Patrick Cronin was assaulted outside the venue before walking to his Eltham home.

He was then taken to hospital and later died.

Seven men have been charged on summons with affray and will appear in Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 5 May 2020.

• A 35-year-old Panton Hill male

• A 36-year-old Diamond Creek male
