Police lay charges after fatal bus crash at Cobbitty

A woman has been charged over a fatal bus crash in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Cobbitty Road, Cobbitty, just before 3pm (Wednesday 15 February 2023) and found a 14-year-old boy critically injured.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the boy at the scene before taking him to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition; however, he died a short time later.

The bus driver, a 54-year-old woman, has been taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested the woman at Liverpool Hospital about 8.30pm yesterday.

She was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death).

The woman was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 16 February 2023).

Her licence was also suspended.
