Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged police car ramming in Fitzroy last night.
The 35-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Spencer Street Melbourne about 4.40pm today.
The arrest follows the ramming of a police vehicle in Holden Street Fitzroy about 7.20pm last night.
He has been charged with the following charges;
• Intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving;
• Reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving;
• Damage to emergency service vehicle by reckless driving;
• Drive in a manner dangerous;
• Handle stolen goods;
• Careless driving;
• Fail to stop vehicle after an accident;
• Drive whilst suspended;
• Use unregistered motor vehicle; and
• Commit and indictable offence whilst on bail.
The man has been remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
He was also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and were each issued a $1652 penalty notice.
The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
