Police lay charges after shots fired, man robbed – south

Two men are due in court today charged after handguns, ammunition, cocaine and steroids were seized when a home was searched at Merrylands West overnight.

Investigations have been continuing into a public-place shooting at Everley Road, Chester Hill, about 9.30am Monday 2 October 2023, involving three men.

Strike Force Pylara was established to investigate the incident, with spent shell casings and other items seized during a canvass of the area. All have been taken for forensic examination.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrested two men when a search warrant was executed at a home on Desmond, Merrylands West, Street shortly before 6pm yesterday (Thursday 5 October 2023).

The men were taken to Granville Police Station, where a 22-year-old man was charged with discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possess unauthorised pistol in relation to Monday’s incident.

The man has also been charged by Bankstown PAC detectives with robbery in company rob while armed with dangerous weapon in relation to the alleged robbery of a man at a business on Clapham Road, Sefton, about 4am last Sunday (1 October 2023).

A 29-year-old man – also arrested at the Merrylands West address – has been charged with four outstanding warrants.

Both men have been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 6 October 2023).

Inquiries are continuing after a Range Rover, which had been reported stolen from a home in Glenwood in September, was found with fake number plates parked nearby on Denver Road, Merrylands West.
