Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery and assault at Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have charged a 14-year-old youth in relation to an aggravated robbery and assault incident that occurred on Monday 2 November 2020.

At around 7:30am, two men, aged 28, were returning to their vehicle in the carpark, when they witnessed a group of youths allegedly walking away from their vehicle with a bag.

The men confronted the group, requesting the bag be returned, when one of the youths allegedly threatened them with an edged weapon before fleeing the scene in the man’s vehicle. One of the men then confronted the youths again a short time later and a youth allegedly assaulted him. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Woodroffe.

Yesterday, Strike Force Trident Detectives located and arrested the youth suspected of the assault.

He has been charged with:

  • robbery while armed – dangerous weapon
  • aggravated assault
  • aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • going armed in public
  • stealing
  • drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
  • not stop after crash
  • damage to property

The youth will appear in court on 6 November 2020.
