Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery at Casuarina 12 January

Northern Territory Police have arrested the final offender after an aggravated robbery in Casuarina last year.

On 20th October 2023, three offenders attended a shopping centre on Trower Road, Casuarina, threatened security guards with knifes and assaulted multiple victims before fleeing the scene with stolen alcohol.

The victims received minor injuries.

A 19-year-old male was arrested at the scene with the remaining offenders fleeing the scene.

Police investigations successfully identified the offenders by co-coordinating with remote police stations across the Top End with the second offender, also a 19-year-old male being arrested at Wurrimiyanga in November 2023. He was subsequently charged with Aggravated Robbery, Stealing and Assault a Worker.

Both remain before the courts.

Yesterday, Serious Crime members located and arrested the third and remaining offender, a 25-year-old man in Malak and have since charged him with:

  • 1 x Aggravated Robbery
  • 5 x Aggravated Assault

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said “These arrests were the result of extensive efforts from general duties and the Serious Crime Squad.

“Investigations into serious incidents don’t stop until we have all offenders before the courts and it doesn’t matter much time has passed, we will eventually catch up with you.”

Police continue to urge the public to report crime and antisocial behaviour through 131 444 or in an emergency to call Triple Zero.
