Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery in Darwin 22 November

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths in relation to a robbery in Darwin City on Sunday.

At around 3pm, two males aged 12 and 14, entered a business on Mitchell Street where they allegedly threatened an employee with an edged weapon before stealing a number of small items.

After a short foot pursuit the 14-year-old was arrested and later charged by Strike Force Trident detectives with:

  • Aggravated robbery

He was further charged, in relation to an incident earlier that morning, with:

  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Escape custody

He was remanded to appear in court today.

The 12-year-old was arrested this morning and is yet to be charged.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “This violent behaviour has no place in our community.

“Strike Force Trident will continue to combat property offences in all its forms.”
