Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery – Millner

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after an aggravated robbery in Millner yesterday.

At 2:30am, a 28-year-old man allegedly approached the victim, seated in his vehicle in front of a business on Sabine Road. The offender has threatened the man with an edged weapon while attempting to steal his vehicle. The victim then allegedly pushed the weapon away and suffered a laceration to his finger before exiting the vehicle.

The 28-year-old has allegedly stolen the vehicle, driving on the wrong side of McMillians Road towards Bagot Road.

Police located the vehicle in Parap, however, the pursuit was halted on Bagot Road, Ludmilla. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in Coconut Grove.

Strike Force Trident detectives identified the alleged offender, and at 1pm, he was arrested without incident at a shopping centre in Casuarina.

He has since been charged with:

• Aggravated robbery

• Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle

• Drive vehicle in a manner dangerous x 2

• Drive vehicle in a manner dangerous during pursuit

• Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed

• Possess schedule 2 drug – less than traffickable quantity (less than 50g)

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court tomorrow.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said “The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance and treated for the serious laceration.

“Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incidents, who hasn’t done so already, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10227341.”
