Police Lay Charges – Belmont Lunch Bar Incident

Cannington Detectives have charged two people following an investigation into an incident in Belmont on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

About 4.50am, it will be alleged one person entered a lunch bar on Wynyard Street and stole a handbag from behind the counter before returning to a white Holden Commodore sedan parked outside.

It will be further alleged the victim, a woman aged in her 40s, was caught and dragged a short distance while attempting to prevent the Holden from leaving the scene. She received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by St John WA to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment.

About 10.15am that same day, police located the Holden in Willetton and took one person into custody.

A 35-year-old woman from Trayning has been charged with:

• 1 x Endangering the Life, Health or Safety of a Person

• 1 x Possess a Prohibited Drug

• 1 x Stealing

She is next due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

On Wednesday, 19 August 2026, detectives arrested a second person in Carlisle.

A 36-year-old woman from Bentley has been charged with:

• 1 x Endangering the Life, Health or Safety of a Person

• 1 x Aggravated Burglary and Commit

• 1 x Stealing

Her bail was refused and she is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
