Police lay charges – Burglary in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a youth after a burglary in Alice Springs over the weekend.

Around 3:20am on Saturday, police received reports an offender had burgled a residence in Kilgariff, stealing a number of small items and car keys before stealing a yellow ford focus from the residence.

Strike Force Viper began investigations, identifying a 17-year-old male who was subsequently arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with Aggravated Burglary – Dwelling, Damage to property and Theft.

He was remanded to appear in court today.

The vehicle and most of the stolen items have since been recovered and investigations are ongoing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said “Detectives from Strike Force Viper have been investigating since this incident occurred and this arrest is the result of a substantial amount of police work.

“We remain committed to ensuring property offenders are put before the courts.”
