Police lay charges – Disturbance – Nakara

Northern Territory police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old male and a 41-year-old female following investigations into a serious disturbance in Nakara on Friday.

Police received reports of a group of youths threatening residents at a Nakara property. At around 6.15pm a report was received that a group had attended an address, while at least one person armed with a knife and a shovel entered the property by damaging the front gates. As a result there was damage to vehicles and one of the group struck the front door and windows with the shovel.

Detectives from Serious Crime last night attended an address in Wulagi and arrested a 19-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman.

They have been charged with:

  • Threats to kill
  • Criminal damage
  • Armed with a controlled weapon
  • Armed with an offensive weapon
  • Going Armed in Public
  • Trespass

The 19-year-old male has been remanded in custody and will appear in court on Monday 18 October. The 41-year-old female has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.

During the course of investigations yesterday, a further incident occurred in Nakara where a number of youth had congregated and a verbal altercation occurred.

Police observed a vehicle ramming into another car. A 59-year male was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with:

  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Drive in a manner dangerous
  • Damage property

The man has been bailed to appear in court on 27 October.

Investigations are continuing.
