Police lay charges – Domestic Violence at Tennant Creek 14 December

Northern Territory Police have charged man with domestic and sexual violence offences in Tennant Creek earlier this week.

On Tuesday evening, police received reports that a 30-year-old female was sexually assaulted by a man who was known to her in bushland in the vicinity of Casey Street, Tennant Creek. The offender fled the scene while the woman was conveyed to Tennant Creek Hospital for treatment.

The following day, detectives from the Tennant Creek Criminal Investigation Branch arrested a 31-year-old man and have since charged him with:

  • Sexual Intercourse without consent
  • Acts intended to cause serious Harm
  • Threats to kill
  • Possess/ use offensive weapon at night

He was remanded in custody to appear at Tennant Creek Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said “Domestic and Family Violence remains our top priority and it has no place within our communities.
