Police lay charges – Domestic violence – Palmerston 13 April

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to a number of offences, including domestic violence and robbery.

Police attempted a traffic apprehension on Bombax Street on Sunday, however, the 32-year-old alleged offender drove off.

The man abandoned his vehicle and a short foot pursuit ensued before he was arrested and later charged by Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Section with:

2 x Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed

1 x Drive without due care

1 x Drive without proper control of vehicle

1 x Not stop after crash

1 x Fail to report a crash (accident)

1 x Driving vehicle dangerous manner pursuit

1 x Driver with prohibited drug in body

2 x Aggravated assault

1 x Robbery – aggravated

6 x Engage in conduct that contravenes DVO

1 x Use carriage service – threat to kill

The man was remanded in custody to face court on 5 May 2021.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Warren Scott said, “Everyone has the right to feel safe in our community. Police will continue to target repeat and high-risk offenders as a priority and bring them before the courts.”
