Police Lay Charges Over Attempt To Murder Mt Druitt Man

A man will face court today charged with allegedly attempting to murder a man in Mt Druitt yesterday.

Emergency services responded to reports about 8am (Friday 8 November 2024), that a man had been stabbed multiple times while inside a kebab shop on Dawson Mall

Officers responding from Mt Druitt Police Area Command rendered first aid to the critically-injured 42-year-old man before he was taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Westmead Hospital. He has since undergone emergency surgery and is now reported to be in a stable condition.

Police on scene were told a man left the shop before catching a taxi on North Parade.

It will be alleged that the man left the taxi and entered a fast-food restaurant on Jersey Road, Plumpton.

Officers established crime scenes at the kebab store and the fast-food restaurant, while the taxi was also seized for forensic examination.

A short time later, a 38-year-old man was arrested on Daniels Road at Hebersham, before being taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.

He was then taken to Auburn Hospital for precautionary reasons; however, while at the hospital, police will allege the man climbed into the ceiling with officers deploying a Taser to take him back into custody.

The 38-year-old man was released from hospital and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with attempted murder, and escape police custody.

The man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 9 November 2024).
