Police lay charges over drug offences – Groote Eylandt

Northern Territory Police have charged an 18-year-old male with drug offences in Groote Eylandt.

Police allege the man travelled from Darwin with intentions to head to Numbulwar. The man, who was flying with his young family, was searched by Dog Operations Unit officers along with Drug Detection Dog Lena. The search discovered 200 grams of cannabis concealed in the man’s pants.

He was charged with possess trafficable quantity schedule 2 dangerous drug and supply schedule 2 dangerous drug less commercial quantity Indigenous community. He will appear in Numbulwar Local Court in August.
