Police lay charges over drug offences – Wurrumiyanga

As part of an ongoing effort to address illicit drug activities within the community, Northern Territory Police executed a search warrant at the residence yesterday in Wurrumiyanga.

During the search, police uncovered and seized a quantity of Cannabis and Ketamine from the premises. The individual in question is alleged to have been involved in the supply of this illicit substances to others within the community.

As a result of the findings, the 26-year-old offender has been charged with Drug Supply/Possession offences and is expected to appear in Wurrumiyanga Local Court at a later date.

Acting Senior Sergeant Robert Overall, the Officer in charge of the Tiwi Islands, said, “Illicit drug use hurts any community. This effect is amplified significantly within remote communities. Police are committed to reducing the supply of all such substances and will prosecute any who would engage in such offending.”
