A man has been charged over a fatal pedestrian crash in Sydney’s inner-west last week.
Just before 10am on Monday (1 April 2019), police were called to the intersection of Georges River Road and Milton Street, Ashfield, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a Toyota Prado while crossing the road at a set of lights.
An 89-year-old man was located unconscious at the scene. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he later died.
The male driver of the Prado was taken to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Following an investigation by officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, yesterday (Tuesday 9 April 2019), the 51-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and proceed through red traffic light. His licence was also suspended.
The Croydon Park man was granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Monday 13 May 2019.
