Police lay charges over property offences at Virginia

Northern Territory Police have charged a 19-year-old man with property offences following two unlawful entries.

Sometime yesterday morning, the man and two co-offenders allegedly broke into a residence in Marrara where they stole a vehicle. They used the vehicle to travel to a store in Virginia where they forced entry and entered the building. Once inside, the group took a large amount of cigarettes and alcohol before leaving the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Police enquiries identified the 19-year-old man as a potential offender. He was arrested at an address in Woodroffe around 9:30 yesterday morning. A search of the man located the keys to the stolen vehicle which was recovered at another residence in Woodroffe.

The 19-year-old was charged with:

• Aggravated Unlawful Use Of Motor Vehicle

• Damage To Property

• Unlawful Entry – Building

• Stealing

He has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 28 August.
