Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin 25 May

Northern Territory Police have charged two male youths for property offences around Darwin and Palmerston earlier this month.

Between 2 and 3 May 2022, the youths were allegedly involved in numerous property offences around Fannie Bay, the Darwin Waterfront Precinct and Casuarina.

Both were arrested by Strike Force Trident detectives on 3 May, charged and remanded in custody.

Investigations have since revealed further property offending by the pair over the two day period, including unlawful entries, trespass incidents and stolen motor vehicles.

A 13-year-old has been charged with:

  • 11 x Trespass on premises
  • 8 x Unlawful entry – dwelling
  • 5 x Stealing
  • 2 x Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Damage to property

He will appear in court on 20 June 2022.

A 15-year-old has been charged with:

  • 5 x Trespass on premises
  • 4 x Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 3 x Stealing
  • 3 x Unlawful entry – dwelling

He will appear in court 24 June 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “Investigations rarely stop once the offender is in custody and the follow-up work by Strike Force Trident has identified the full extent of the alleged offending.

“Numerous victims had previously not reported these incidents to police.”

“Police would urge anyone who is the victim of property crime to report it to police on 131 444.”
