Police lay charges over stalking, break-in at Albury

A man has been charged over allegedly stalking a woman and breaking into a home in the state’s south.

In December 2022, officers from Murray River Police District commenced an investigation following reports a man was allegedly stalking a woman and broke into her house in Albury.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 36-year-old man at a home in Main Street, Brocklesby, about 7.20am yesterday (Friday 24 February 2023).

Police executed a search warrant at the property, where they located cannabis, drug paraphernalia, knives, ammunition and documentation.

These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with break and enter house, and three counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

Police will allege in court that the man broke into the woman’s house and stole several items, including jewellery, on Saturday 3 December 2022.

It will be further alleged that the man returned to the house on two further occasions in February 2023.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Saturday 25 February 2023), where he was refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court on Monday 27 February 2023.

Investigations are continuing.
