Police lay charges over unlawful entry in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged two males in relation to an unlawful entry at a Darwin business last night.

An employee was conducting end of shift duties at the closed business when she heard attempts to break in around 10:50pm. The employee locked herself in an office and notified police.

The offenders gained entry via a smashed window and began stealing alcohol and a tip jar. Nearby Casuarina general duties officers and three off duty Darwin officers arrived on scene and sighted the two offenders inside the business. The offenders fled the scene and were apprehended by police on the Esplanade following a short foot pursuit.

The two males, aged 31 and 34, have been charged with:

  • 1x Damage To Property
  • 1x Aggravated Enter Building With Intent To Commit Offence
  • 1x Stealing

Police are opposing bail.
