Police lay charges – Property crime in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged six girls over property offences around Alice Springs this week.

The group was allegedly involved in various property offences on Sunday night including unlawful entries on Gregory Terrace and Todd Street.

Around 2:15pm yesterday, five of the youths were also allegedly involved in stealing at a business on Hartley Street, during which an employee was assaulted.

Detectives from Strike Force Viper arrested all six yesterday.

A 12-year-old was charged with:

  • 2 x Unlawful entry
  • 5 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Aggravated assault
  • 2 x Stealing
  • 3 x Trespass

She was remanded to appear in the court today.

Another 12-year-old was charged with:

  • 2 x Unlawful entry
  • 5 x Damage to property
  • 3 x Stealing
  • 1 x Possess stolen property
  • 3 x Trespass

She was remanded to appear in court today.

A third 12-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful entry
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Stealing

She was remanded to appear in court today.

A 13-year-old was charged with:

  • 2 x Unlawful Entry
  • 5 x Damage to property
  • 3 x Stealing
  • 3 x Trespass

She was remanded to appear in court today.

A 14-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Serious breach of bail

She was remanded to appear in court today.

Another 14-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Unlawful entry

She was bailed appear in court on 28 July 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Kent said, “These arrests and charges are the result of extensive work from Strike Force Viper with investigations into these recent offences still ongoing.

“We would like to thank the public for the information that has been provided and would continue to urge anyone who witnesses property offences to make contact on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”
