Police lay charges – Rock throwing at Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have charged a 14-year-old male following an alleged disturbance at Casuarina yesterday afternoon.

Around 5:30pm, police received a number of calls about a group of youths damaging cars and throwing rocks in the area of Casuarina Library. Upon arrival, multiple youths were seen fleeing the location. Three cars and one scooter were damaged as a result.

A 57-year-old man was also allegedly assaulted by the 14-year-old. The man did not suffer injuries.

Two male youths, aged 11 and 14, were arrested at the scene. The 14-year-old allegedly spat in the face of a police officer as he was being apprehended. The 11-year-old was left in the care of a responsible adult.

The 14-year-old has been charged with:

  • criminal damage x 3
  • engaging in violent conduct
  • disorderly behaviour in public place
  • aggravated assault
  • assault a member of the police force.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
