Police lay charges – Sexual assault in Darwin 20 September

Northern Territory Police have charged a 67-year-old man with sexual assault following an incident in Pinelands on 15 September.

The victim and alleged offender were drinking with a group at a licensed venue before they left the premises together. The man allegedly assaulted the woman after she fell asleep. She reported the incident to police on Friday.

On Friday evening, detectives from the Sex Crimes Division arrested the man and conveyed him to the Palmerston Watch House. Police have since charged him with:

  • Sexual intercourse without consent
  • Indecent assault
  • Possess commercial quantity of Schedule 2 drug
  • Supply commercial quantity of Schedule 2 drug

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
