Police lay charges – Stolen vehicle – Lyons

Northern Territory Police have arrested three males in relation to a stolen vehicle and pursuit earlier this week.

At around 10:40pm on Tuesday, police received a report that a Toyota Hilux was stolen from a residence in the Victoria River Region.

At midday yesterday, the vehicle was observed travelling along Lee point Road in Lyons. A pursuit was called with the vehicle driving onto Buffalo Creek Road and into surrounding bushland. Four males fled the vehicle and a foot pursuit was commenced.

Several police units responded including the Dog Operations Unit, Strike Force Trident, Traffic and general duties. The offenders were tracked through bushland prior to being arrested without incident.

Two males, aged 15 and 17, will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

A 19-year-old man was charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle and was bailed to appear on 16 August 2022.

Senior Sergeant Kaye Pemberton said, “Investigations into this incident are ongoing with efforts focussed on locating the fourth offender.

“These arrests were the result of a number of policing units working together with all three offenders finally surrendering without incident.”
