Police lay charges – Stolen vehicles in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 16-year-old female in relation to two motor vehicle thefts.

The first motor vehicle was stolen in the early hours of Friday 9 December 2022 in the Darwin CBD and was not recovered until three days later.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, the alleged offender took possession of a second stolen motor vehicle. The female and three youth co-offenders abandoned the stolen vehicle in Parap.

Strike Force Trident members canvassed CCTV in the area and the female was later arrested in Darwin City yesterday.

The female has since been charged with:

  • Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle
  • Stealing
  • Drive Unlicensed

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said “It is unfortunate that members of the public experience this sort of offending which disturbs their daily routines.

“Police will continue to actively target and apprehend offenders who unlawfully obtain property that is not theirs.

“Anyone who has any information that may assist with locating the co-offenders is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 10197391.”
