Police lay robbery charges at Nambour

Sunshine Coast police have charged a 23-year-old man for a range of offences including for two attempted robberies at Nambour last month.

Around 4pm on January 25, the 23-year-old man allegedly approached another man in a carpark of a Nambour shopping centre and threatened him, asking him for the keys to his car. The victim did not comply, and the man walked off.

A short time later, the 23-year-old man approached another man and his girlfriend at the intersection of Sydney and Howard streets and allegedly threatened them, asking for the keys to their car.

The man got in his car to start it while the 23-year-old man allegedly continued his threats. The pair managed to drive off along Sydney Street.

The 23-year-old Sunshine Coast man has been charged with 23 offences including attempted robbery, stealing, receiving stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while unlicensed and unregistered, evading police, possessing a knife in public and other drug related offences.

He was arrested yesterday to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
