Police make arrest after erratic driver on Eastern Freeway

Police are investigation following reports of an erratic driver in Doncaster this morning.

Officers responded after a number of calls to Triple Zero reporting a black Toyota driving erratically on the Eastern Freeway about 1am.

Witnessed reported the vehicle involved in near misses with taxi and motorcyclist as the car travelled outbound.

When officers arrived, they located a man inside the vehicle which has stopped on the side of the freeway near Tram Road.

Officers tried to wake the man who was in the driver seat and after several attempts and due to concerns for the man’s welfare, they forced entry to the vehicle by smashing a window.

Police located what is believed to be marijuana inside the vehicle and the 24-year-old Greenvale man was taken to hospital.

He is expected to be charged at a later date with possess drug of dependence and traffic related offences.
