Police make arrest after man attempts to pull boy off Box Hill tram

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly attempted to pull a boy off a Box Hill tram yesterday.

The 39-year-old man was arrested in Box Hill this morning following a joint effort by local police and the Transit Crime Investigation Unit.

It follows an incident on a 109 east tram on Elgar Road about 3.45pm on Monday 15 August, where a man allegedly grabbed a young boy and attempted to pull him off the tram.

A female passenger intervened and pulled the child back onto the tram before the man left on foot.

The boy was not physically injured during the incident.

The Camberwell man is currently being interviewed by Transit detectives.
