Police have arrested a man in relation to an assault in Preston on 27 March.
It is alleged the 32-year-old victim was followed after getting off a tram at the intersection of Bell Street and Plenty Road about 11.20pm.
The victim was knocked unconscious and the man continued to strike him.
The 27-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in the CBD this morning and is currently being interviewed.
