Police make arrest – Aggravated burglary – Mataranka

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after an aggravated burglary incident in Mataranka overnight.

Around 7:30pm, a vehicle carrying three men, a woman and a number of children attended a service station within the community.

The adults have allegedly caused a disturbance within the service station.

One of the men from within the vehicle has allegedly threatened a passer-by with a pair of scissors, chasing him into his residence a short distance away.

The resident has armed himself with a blunt weapon and a fight has ensued. Following the altercation, the resident hid in the rear yard.

Two armed adult men have allegedly returned and entered the resident’s home. Failing to locate the resident, the men caused damage within the dwelling.

A community night patrol has intervened and the group has left the area. The resident received minor bruising in the altercation.

The occupants of the vehicle were allegedly involved in another separate incident a short time later at Beswick Community.

Local police attended and a 41-year-old man was arrested without incident. The second male offender remains outstanding with efforts underway to locate him.
