Police make arrest – Aggravated robbery – Larrakeyah

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths following an aggravated robbery that occurred on Saturday night.

Shortly after 10pm, the driver of a Nissan Tiida was approached by the youths, who allegedly attempted to steal his vehicle. The youths allegedly threatened the driver with an edged weapon before stealing his vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was spotted by Strike Force Trident members, who attempted a traffic apprehension. The pair dumped the vehicle on Seale Street in Parap, fleeing over a fence.

Patrol Dog (PD) Wedge and handler Senior Constable (SC) Unwin were deployed to track the offenders, with PD Wedge picking up the offender’s scent through multiple properties.

During a search of a property along East Point Road, PD Wedge began jumping up on windows and walls indicating the offenders were on the roof. SC Unwin climbed onto the roof and observed the offenders climbing down tree and jumping the fence into a business next door.

PD Wedged quickly located both offenders in nearby scrub at the back of the premises. Both males were taken into custody.

A 15-year-old has been charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Assault with intent to steal
  • Unlawful use motor vehicle
  • Drive without due car
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive without headlights illuminated

A 13-year-old has been charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Assault with intent to steal
  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle

Both were remanded to appear in court today.
