Police make arrest – Assault police and worker – Nightcliff

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 25-year-old man following alleged assaults on police and ambulance workers.

Police and St John Ambulance responded to a call for assistance at a residence in Nightcliff this evening. Whilst in the ambulance, the man allegedly lashed out at an ambulance worker. Police and the ambulance worker attempted to restrain the man, during which time he allegedly spat blood at them. The man was eventually sedated and transported to Royal Darwin Hospital under police guard. He has been arrested for assault worker and assault police.

Acting Commander Brendan Muldoon said, “This actions of the man is abhorrent. Nobody deserves to be assaulted at work, particularly when their duties are to come to the aid of others. These members will now be subjected to a nervous wait while they undergo medical tests.”

The man is expected to be charged in the near future. Investigations continue.
