Police make arrest – Domestic violence – Borroloola

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in relation to a domestic violence related assault in Borroloola.

Early yesterday morning local police received a report of a seriously injured 18-year-old female at a residence within the community.

The victim was conveyed to the local clinic with significant injuries and has since been airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.

Local police arrested the 21-year-old man yesterday in a nearby community.

Teams from the Sex Crimes and Domestic and Family Violence Division, Forensic Division and Crime have travelled to the community to investigate the assault.

The offender remains in custody and is expected to be charged at a later date.

Detective Superintendent Kirsten Engels said “This is yet another violent assault against a Territory woman allegedly perpetrated by her partner. Another tragic and unnecessary incident.

“Domestic and Family Violence continues to be a significant concern in the Territory.”

“Anyone with information regarding this assault, who hasn’t done so already, is urged make contact on 131 444 or via your local police station.”
