Police make arrest – Domestic Violence in Darwin 4 December

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to a serious harm incident in Darwin overnight.

At around 10:15pm, police received reports that a 48-year-old woman had been assaulted by her 50-year-old male partner with an edged weapon on the Stuart Highway near the intersections of Henry and Westralia Streets.

The woman was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition. The male was also conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital and is in a stable condition.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad and the Domestic and Family Violence Section are investigating.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said, “Investigations are ongoing into this incident and we urge anyone, particularly motorists, who witnessed or have footage of the incident, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 9865244.

“This kind of behaviour is reprehensible and anyone aware of or experiencing domestic and family violence is encouraged to reach out for help. You can contact police at any time on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000. “
