The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 22-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred earlier today.
At 6:45am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of a domestic violence incident that had occurred at a residence in Bellamack. It is alleged a 22-year-old male had verbally abused an adult female known to him and made threats to kill her with an edged weapon.
The offender allegedly rammed her vehicle, causing damage, before driving from the scene.
The 22-year-old travelled south on the Stuart Highway with policing intercepting his vehicle just north of Katherine. A pursuit was initiated but subsequently terminated as the vehicle turned west onto the Victoria Highway.
Members from Timber Creek were called out to assist responding police from the Dog Operations Unit, Territory Road Policing and Katherine general duties.
A tyre deflation device was deployed as the vehicle continued travelling west. The offender avoided the device, veered off the road and crashed.
The 22-year-old was arrested at the scene and did not report any injuries. He was conveyed to the clinic in Timber Creek for medical assessment in a stable condition and remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
