Police make arrest – Drugs seized in Katherine

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a 36 year old man in Katherine following an 18 month long operation targeting the importation of illegal drugs and illicit substances into the Northern Territory.

Members of the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk intercepted a number of packages alleged to have contained various quantities of Schedule 1 and 2 Dangerous drugs including Methamphetamine, LSD, cannabis and cannabis oil, since November 2018.

A 36 year old man was arrested following the execution of a search warrant on a Katherine residential property where it is further alleged police located and seized a quantity of Schedule 2 Dangerous drug and drug manufacture and supply equipment.

The man was charged with:

  • 7 x Supply Schedule 1 Drug – Traffickable Qty
  • 5 x Possess Schedule 1 Drug – Traffickable Qty
  • 2 x Possess Schedule 1 Drug
  • 3 x Supply Schedule 2 Drug
  • 2 x Possess Schedule 2 Drug
  • 1 x Possess Equipment to Manufacture Dangerous Drug
  • 1 x Possess Thing – Administer Dangerous Drug.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Katherine Local Court today.
