Police make arrest – Drunk driver – Howard Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in relation to traffic offences over the weekend.

On Saturday 31 October 2020, Darwin Traffic Operations were conducting road safety patrols on Hillier Road, when they detected a vehicle travelling at 135km/h in a 70km/h zone.

Police pulled over the vehicle and the driver undertook a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading. He was arrested and conveyed to Palmerston Watch House for a further breath analysis.

He has been charged with:

  • drive medium range
  • drive unlicensed / suspended
  • drive at a dangerous speed (65km/h over)

Acting Sergeant Conelius said police will continue to target unsafe road users.

“The driver of this vehicle placed not only his own life, but the lives of his passengers, including his own brother at serious risk.”

The man will face Darwin Local Court on 14 January 2020.
