Police make arrest for historical child sexual abuse offences

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 26-year-old man as a result of their investigation into alleged historical child sexual abuse incidents.

It is alleged between 2014 and 2016, the man who was 20-years-old at the time of the first offence, sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy. The man allegedly befriended the victim through an online chat forum.

The 26-year-old man from Alkimos has been charged with:-

• Six counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child of or over 13, and under 16 years;

• Five counts of Indecently Deals with a Child of or over 13, and under 16 years;

• One count of Attempted Sexual Penetration of a Child of or over 13, under 16 years;

• One Count of Procure a Child of or over 13, and under 16 years to do an Indecent Act; and

• One count of Persistent Sexual Contact with a Child under 16 years.

He is next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on 13 July 2020.
