Police make arrest – Robbery – Marrara

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths in relation to property offences in Marrara over the weekend.

Shortly before 8:00pm on Friday, three youths attended a shopping centre in Northlakes and allegedly assaulted an employee with a blunt weapon while she was attempting to close the store.

Two youths have forced their way past her and entered behind the counter area stealing cigarettes and other times before allegedly assaulting a second victim and fleeing the scene.

Later that night, the youths were found trespassing on a property on Links Road before the neighbours were alerted and contacted police.

A 13-year-old was located and arrested at a residence in Karama. He has since been charged with:

  • Engaged in violent conduct
  • Robbery (aggravated – in company / weapon)
  • Trespass
  • Serious breach of bail

The second youth, aged 12, was arrested this morning and expected to be charged later today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said “Police are continuing to look for the third offender. We know who he is, it’s just a matter of time before we catch up with him.

“In addition to this incident, Detectives also identified a separate assault of two youths who were trying to board a bus on Thursday before allegedly being attacked by these youths.

“We would like to speak to these individuals and ask them to make contact with police.”
