Police make arrest – Stealing and assault in Alice Springs

A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in relation to two separate incidents of assault in Alice Springs yesterday.

Just after midday it is alleged the male pushed past a staff member and grabbed a bottle of alcohol from the bar area of a hotel restaurant on Stott Terrace.

Another staff member went to intercept the male who was running from the restaurant when he allegedly physically assaulted her to the neck and head, before getting into a waiting car and leaving the area.

The two female staff members did not require further medical treatment.

Just after 4pm police arrested the male in relation to a disturbance in a car park at a licensed premises on Gap Road where it will be further alleged he assaulted a 55-year-old security guard.

The male was taken back to the Alice Springs Watch House and later charged with one count each of Assault with intent to steal and Aggravated assault.

Police continue to make inquiries in relation to the vehicle and those who were inside the car at the time of both incidents.
