Police make arrests over unlawful entry in Alice Springs 29 August

Northern Territory Police have arrested eight youths in relation to an unlawful entry in Alice Springs on Friday night.

At around 8:30pm, eight youths, aged between 11 and 16, allegedly attempted to unlawfully enter a commercial premises on Milner Road.

The Alice Springs Police Drone Unit was deployed and located the youths a short time later attempting to hide nearby. All eight were apprehended without incident.

A 13-year-old female was charged with:

  • Trespass on premises
  • Damage to property
  • Attempt unlawful entry

She was remanded to appear in court today.

Six of the remaining youth were charged with the same offences and bailed to appear at later dates. A 14-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Robert Kent said, “These arrests were the result of collaborative work between the Drone Unit, General Duties and Strike Force Viper.

“NT Police will continue to tirelessly work to combat property crime in all its forms.”
