Three police officers have been assaulted in two separate incidents across the Northern Territory overnight.
Kintore police officers were assisting Western Australia Police in the arrest of an outstanding offender in Kiwirrkurra yesterday afternoon, when the man is alleged to have kicked one of the officers to her stomach.
The 30-year-old offender was taken into the custody of the Western Australia Police and is expected the face additional charges of Assault Police.
Fortunately the Northern Territory Police officer did not require further medical assistance.
In a separate incident, police officers responded to a report of an altercation in Moulden at 7:40pm yesterday.
On arrival, they located a 28 year old woman in breach of a Domestic Violence Order and proceeded to arrest her.
It is alleged the woman attempted to escape during the arrest and violently kicked out at officers.
One police officer was kicked to the head multiple times while another officer suffered a laceration to the face as a result of an object being thrown at him by the woman.
The woman was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault Police.
One of the police officers required medical treatment to his face as a result of the assault.
Territory Duty Superintendent, Acting Superintendent Peter Dash said “The continued assault of police officers attending to calls for assistance from the public is of concern.”
“Whilst the assault of any person is despicable police will not tolerate assaults upon emergency responders and will ensure the offenders are brought before the courts.”
