Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 48-year-old man as a result of an investigation into allegations of child sex offences.
It will be alleged in August 2022 the man met two 14-year-old girls via an online adult website and provided them with alcohol at his private residence. It will be further alleged the man indecently dealt with one of the girls.
The man is a Sergeant with WA Police Force and works in the Mid West – Gascoyne District. The alleged incidents occurred while he was off-duty.
He was arrested yesterday, Thursday 25 August 2022, and has since been charged with the following offences:
– 2 x Supplied juveniles alcohol on unlicensed premises;
– 2 x Indecently deals with a child over 13 under 16; and
– 3 x Encourages a child over 13 and under 16 to engage in sexual behaviour
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court today, Friday 26 August 2022.
The officer is stood down from duty.
